Naruto Generations: A New Demo on January 24th for Japan

Posted by Muhammad Reza on

Earlier this week a new scan confirmed the release date of the Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Generations demo in Japan – January 24, 2012. Our fellow fans as well as us here at Saiyan Island have wondered if we would be getting the Jump Festa demo or the famous Japan Expo demo with Raikage, Sasuke, and Naruto.

Well, according to CyberConnect2 (CC2), the answer is neither! CC2 mentions the “upcoming demo will be [a] different one from the Jump Festa version” and that CC2 is “making the demo and not leveraging the Japan Expo one!” Of course, that doesn’t mean the January 24th demo will be completely different. It could very well have some similarities.

Now, what will the demo contain exactly? No information on that has been revealed at this time, but we’ll be sure to let you know when the official word is released!

What's going to happen in 2012? Next Xbox tablet-based

Posted by Muhammad Reza on

If the rumors are to be believed, the guts of the new Xbox, presumably some kind of insane multicore CPU and crazy powerful graphics chipset, will be teased nice and early as part of Microsoft's final showing at the Consumer Electronics Show this year. Expect it to be properly revealed, with a name and everything, at the Electronic Entertainment Expo in early June. If that timing is accurate, it seems likely that we'll see it in stores by the 2013 holiday season.

But what of the box itself? Given Microsoft's recent efforts at unification across its Windows, Mobile, and Xbox product lines, it seems clear that the 720 or whatever they end up calling it (surely not that) will be the ultimate personification of that strategy. There are strong signs suggesting that, like with Nintendo's Wii U, a tablet component figures heavily into the new design. That saucy Windows 8 Metro interface (now also seen on the Xbox Dashboard) just begs to be touched. Speculation as to the form it will take has been rife for the past few months, with some even suggesting that the core of the new platform will be akin to a tablet PC that wirelessly connects to a base station, which in turn plugs into your TV. If this is the case, a premium Xbox Next setup could feasibly include a base station, a tablet, a conventional controller of some kind, and the recently discussed high-def evolution of the Kinect. Thank goodness for wireless connections if that's the case; otherwise, we're in for one hell of a mess of cables.

Fatal error SNK KOF XIII On

Posted by Muhammad Reza on

SNK Playmore has been fixing their mistakes on KOF KOF XII to give XIII. Now the fans of The King of Fighters can come back to show off the ability to match the online features provided in KOF XIII. Unfortunately, SNK has made a mistake on their netcode so that the latency of a severe lag will occur, but if we play other games, such as Modern Warfare 3, the lag does not exist.

Is only that SNK Playmore mistake? Not really. For those who helped fight in the arena chasing rankings on Ranked Match, will encounter many obstacles that interfere.

Have you ever competed at a high level of Ranked Match? Usually the match ended with "Lost Connection with Opponent", especially if we're winning. This means that the fighters prefer to disconnect rather than lose duel calculated. Why could happen so?

This issue is returned to the system Ranked Match The King of Fighters XIII that if arguably somewhat "flawed". Ranked Match at low levels, we will be able to enjoy the fight is quite fair, because win or lose we still get rank points. But once we ranked up when it exceeded 10,000, then we will see a system where if we lost, we rank points will be reduced!

Of course, the fighters are not willing to level up points that have been painstakingly reduced simply because they get lost against others, so they prefer to disconnect or ragequit (escape to XMB / dashboard) for the security of their points. Moreover, 3 vs 3 battle system provides enough time to gauge whether the fight will be won or not.

Roughly what happens is like the diagram below:

That's about the mentality of the high ranked players at The King of Fighters XIII. This does not mean all the high ranked players behave like that, but some of those who play by way of "cheating" has been littering the KOF fighter community.

This would not have happened if the system is like this:

There is no reduction in points despite losing
Point reduction which is the main reason why the high ranking players are choosing to disconnect rather than defeat. Usually this is done by those who only care about online rankings and make them into "Stop having fun and do everything to stay on top."

The existence of Spectator Mode
With the spectator mode, so for those who fled at the time of defeat will surely be seen by the people and will be branded as a "leaver".

Save Replay break the game even though data
Currently the save replays can only be done after the game was over. If we can save a replay when the opponent decides the connection, then we should be able to report the matter to SNK for further action.

Can choose the same level Ranked Match
Ranked Match KOF XIII menu does not support the selection of opponents at all. We will complain to anyone who is looking for your opponent to connect and then, even if they rank high or low though. It is therefore possible level 10 against level 25, if a level 10 almost won, which immediately ragequit level 25.

Reduction in rank points in case of broken connection
This is the most painful penalty for those who do not accidentally disconnected connections. But of course this is very helpful to prevent those who do not want to record a "broken" by doing a disconnect / ragequit.

In the end, online rankings do not show if we were good, but rather indicate whether we can use lag tactics and can disconnect before losing it or not. After all, not everyone is thirsty ranking, even some do not see how the opponent's ranking, and only wanted to "enjoy the fight" it.

Well, the best choice to play The King of Fighters XIII online for those who do not care about online ranking is holding a Player Match with a friend we have known. Let's have some fun!

New Sequel Angry Birds, Angry Birds Chinese New Year, Present this Month.

Posted by Muhammad Reza on

Had enough of frustrated avians? They you’d best read the next story. The ultra-popular Angry Birds are at it again with yet another edition of Angry Birds Seasons, due in January. According to a the latest YouTube video, it’s likely to commemorate the Chinese New Year. The Year of the Dragon starts on January 23rd in the western calendar, so expect the updated app to become available some time in the next few weeks.
The new edition of Angry Birds Seasons, which doesn’t have an official name just yet, is obviously going to come equipped with some sort of Asian theme. A quick glance of something like a cross between the Mighty Eagle and a dragon might mean a new playable bird, or just a fun themed version. If you’ve been keeping up with the ever-changing updates, you’ll no doubt remember that the September version celebrated the Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival. Angry Birds Seasons has been downloaded more than 50 million times on Android, and the Seasons add-on app has been downloaded almost as many times. Unlike the iOS versions, both Android apps and the movie tie-in Angry Birds Rio are free with advertising.

The Angry Birds have been seeing quite a few promotions lately, notably for the Samsung Galaxy Note in the UK. Not everyone is pleased with Rovio’s massive popularity, including Henk Rogers, the co-owner f the Tetris brand. He equated the game with a fad in an interview. That may be true, but Angry Birds is certainly equivalent to the Tetris or Pong of the mobile world (no, Snake doesn’t count), and continues to win new fans with every update. Just don’t be the guy who plays it with the sound enabled on a bus or plane – you might inspire some ballistic demolition from your fellow passengers.
